I
have been asked many times why mink is the only real fur I use, almost
exclusively. The answer is that it is easily recognized by me and by my
collectors. I use vintage fur garments such as mink stoles, jackets,
and coats. I feel that using vintage garments is a way of recycling
something not worn any longer.
I do not use furs that may have come
from China and are obviously not mink, no matter what they are labeled.
China exports furs made from many species, both domesticated and
endangered, while labeled as something else entirely. If you see the
label Lipi Cat, be aware there is no such animal but may be a garment
made from domesticated cats or an endangered species of wild cat. Seek
out vintage garments when you are interested in fur, or purchase any of
the beautiful realistic faux furs now offered on the market.
